Abstract
Human resource is considered as a strategic asset of any organization because the acquisition of any organization’s goal is largely depending upon on the employees. Therefore, it is important to identify the circumstances which motivate the employees for achieving the goals. The foremost objective of this study is to highlight that what extent does the employee rewards have effects on employee performance in a public sector in Karachi. Hence this study has examined the relationship between extrinsic rewards, intrinsic rewards & employee performance in National Bank of Pakistan (Head office). In order to accomplish the research objectives, quantitative research design was carried out under the deductive approach with the population size of 250 & sample size is 152. Self-designed questionnaire was used as primary data collection method. The data was analyzed using the descriptive statistics. This study follows the convenience sampling which is actually a type of non-probability sampling technique. The study revealed that there is a positive relationship between extrinsic reward, intrinsic reward & employee performance. The result can be used as guideline for the public sector in Karachi to have better understanding of the importance of reward system on employee performance & furthermore it will help to design & implement strategic reward to bring competitive advantage.
